The internal combustion engine.  Fabulous invention, and most of our vehicles are based on it, so where would we be without it?  But there are a number of things, like any other mechanical item, that can go wrong with your car’s motor, causing you to need engine repair.   

 

Obviously just stalling out or not starting can often be an engine problem, but it can also be due to other incidental troubles, so to determine if you need engine repair, your mechanic will have to do some diagnostic testing to find the source of the trouble.  So you don’t need to prepare for full on major engine repair every time the car stalls out, thank goodness.  

 

Other signs of engine trouble, that can save you the trouble of waiting til the car actually breaks down, are ticking, “ping”ing or knocking sounds, smoke from the exhaust,  feelings of surging or gaining and losing power while driving, or missing.
