The People Who Work On Your Car

You are not really choosing a shop. You are choosing whoever ends up under your car, and that is a fair thing to ask about before you hand over the keys.

Every one of them is certified

Every technician here is ASE certified. Several hold Master certification, which means passing the full set of core tests rather than one, and one holds Advanced Master certification on top of that — the specialised diagnostic level you want when a problem is genuinely strange.

The people at the counter are ASE certified too. That is unusual, and it is the reason you can ask "why" at this shop and get an answer rather than a shrug.

What that means day to day

The same person, next time

Small independent shop, low turnover. The technician who knows your car is generally still here in three years.

40 hours of training a year, minimum

Per technician. Direct injection, hybrids, driver assist systems and electronic steering all arrived recently enough that a shop which stopped training is a shop that guesses.

Certified people at the counter

So the explanation you get has actually been understood by the person giving it.

Interns who became technicians

We take high school interns from Dakota Ridge and Chatfield, and several have been hired full time. Some of the people working on your car started here at seventeen.

Common questions

Are all your technicians certified?

Yes, all ASE certified. Several are Master Certified and one is Advanced Master Certified. Our service writers are ASE certified as well.

Can I talk to the person who worked on my car?

Usually, yes. That is one of the real advantages of a single-location independent shop over a dealership service department.

How much training do your technicians do?

A minimum of 40 hours a year each. Vehicles change quickly enough that this is not optional.
