Wheel Alignment in Littleton

Alignment is the cheapest tire insurance there is. A car that is out by a fraction of a degree will quietly eat a $900 set of tires and never once tell you it is doing it.

Most people book an alignment because the car pulls. By the time it pulls, the tires have usually already paid for the alignment several times over. The cheaper habit is to align when you buy tires and after anything that hits hard enough to matter — which on Colorado roads is most winters.

Colorado potholes do not announce that they moved your alignment. Your tires announce it, six months later.

What usually brings people in

  • The car pulls to one sideThe obvious one, and by then the wear is already happening. Worth ruling out uneven tire pressure and a dragging brake first, which we check as part of the job.
  • Steering wheel is off center on a straight roadA cosmetic annoyance that usually indicates a real geometry problem underneath it.
  • Tires wearing on one edgeCamber or toe out of spec. The inside edge is the one people never see until the tire is finished, which is why we read all four during the 32 point inspection.
  • You just hit somethingA hard pothole on Bowles or a curb in a parking garage is more than enough to move things. Getting it checked is far cheaper than a set of tires.
  • New tires going onAlways the right moment. Putting new tires on an out-of-spec car is paying twice for the same mistake.
  • The car feels vague or wandersOften toe, sometimes a worn steering or suspension component that has to be sorted before an alignment will hold. We inspect before we adjust, because aligning a car with a worn tie rod is aligning something that will move again next week.

Four wheel computerized alignment at Dakota Ridge Auto
Caster, camber and toe measured against factory specification at all four corners, not just the front.

Our four wheel computerized alignment adjusts caster, camber and toe to factory specification, and includes a thorough steering and suspension inspection first — because aligning a car with a worn tie rod is aligning something that will move again next week. It comes with a free tire rotation, washer fluid topped off and the 32 point inspection, and there is $10 off on the coupons page.

You get the before and after numbers. Every alignment ends in a printout showing where each angle sat when the car came in and where it sits now, against the manufacturer specification. That is the only honest proof the work was needed and the only proof it was done.

If the inspection turns up a worn component that will not hold an alignment, we will tell you before we start rather than after we have charged you for one that will not last. Sometimes the answer is that the alignment can wait until the tie rod is done.

What the job includes

Four wheel alignment

Caster, camber and toe to factory spec, with a steering and suspension inspection first.

Steering and suspension inspection

Included, because worn parts will not hold an alignment and you should know that before you pay for one.

Free rotation included

Colorado road damage

Pothole and curb impacts checked properly, including for a bent wheel that no alignment will correct.

$10 off

Common questions

How often do I need an alignment?

Once a year is a reasonable default, and always when you buy tires or after you hit something hard. If the car pulls, the wheel is off center, or the tires are wearing unevenly, sooner.

Do I need a four wheel alignment or just the front?

Nearly every modern vehicle with independent rear suspension wants a four wheel alignment. A front-only alignment on a car whose rear is out of spec leaves the car crabbing down the road with a straight steering wheel, which is worse than where you started.

How much does an alignment cost?

Call us for current pricing and take the $10 off the coupons page with you. It is one of the least expensive services we do and one of the few that reliably saves you more than it costs.

My car does not pull. Do I still need one?

Possibly. A car can be well out of specification and still track straight if the errors cancel each other out, and it will wear tires the whole time. Uneven wear is the more reliable symptom than pull.

Will an alignment fix my vibration?

Usually not. Vibration at highway speed is nearly always balance, a bent wheel, or a tire problem rather than alignment. Different fix, and normally a cheaper one. See our tire service page.

Can you align a lowered or lifted vehicle?

Yes, within what the suspension will physically adjust to. Modified ride height often needs aftermarket adjustment hardware to reach specification, and we will tell you honestly if yours does before we start.

Pulling, wandering, or putting new tires on?

Come in and we will measure it. You get the numbers before and after, and there is $10 off on the coupons page.
