You do not have to go to the dealer for scheduled maintenance to keep your factory warranty. That is federal law, and it has been since 1975.
The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prevents a manufacturer from voiding your warranty because an independent shop did the maintenance. What they can require is that the work is done on schedule, to specification, with the correct parts and fluids, and that you can prove it.
All four of those are things we do as a matter of course. We use manufacturer-specified fluids, follow the published schedule for your vehicle, document what was done, and report service to Carfax so the record follows the car.
Some shops bundle a fixed list at every interval regardless of the vehicle. We follow your manufacturer schedule, which is frequently shorter.

No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act specifically protects your right to choose where maintenance is performed. The manufacturer can require that it is done on schedule, to specification, and documented. It cannot require that it is done by them.
They are either mistaken or selling. If a service advisor tells you your warranty requires dealer maintenance, ask them to show you where the warranty booklet says so. It does not.
You need what your manufacturer schedule lists. Dealers frequently add items to the published schedule as a package. We will show you the manufacturer requirement and tell you what is genuinely additional.
